Good Afternoon,
I have some information regarding Cottrell House.
My Grandfather, Rev Alban Lloyd-Jones was the Vicar at St. Nicholas and the parish included this house.
The Mackintosh of Mackintosh lived there and my Grandfather visited the house.
The Mackintosh son died of flu in Canada in 1918, and when the Mackintosh family left Cottrell, they gave my Grandfather their son’s sword ( a strange thing to give a clergy man) and two curling stones- which we still have. My Father, Adrian Francis-Williams, was Deputy Lieutenant of Glamorgan and used the sword on many occasions.
I have of photograph of Queen Mary and the Mackintosh family outside a house- I believe it to be Cottrell-although you cannot see much of the house and the photograph is becoming faded.
I am not sure if this information is helpful to your group- I will send a scan of the phot if you wish.
Regards,
Richard Francis-Williams
