Adamsdown Gardens

Adamsdown Gardens is a small triangular shaped park in the middle of Adamsdown Square.  The park was built on land owned by the Bute estate and opened in 1890.  During WWI some of the park was converted into allotments for growing vegetables.

Adamsdown Gardens and Schools in the early 1900s

Adamsdown school used to be immediately to the north-west of the park, built in 1879 and demolished around 1988.

Much has changed in the park over the years but some of the gates and railings may be pretty old.

The park lost its play area during a recent 2022 redevelopment but the dozen or so mature trees around the edge of the park were kept.

The park can be colourful at spring time with daffodils and then wild flowers though sometimes even these have been mistakenly mown.
