A look at some of the factories that occupied the parish of Roath that once included Splott, Adamsdown and other nearby areas.

Spillers Nephews Biscuit Factory, Moorland Road

Spillers Nephews Ltd biscuit Factory was an imposing red brick building established on a three acre site on Moorland Road, Splott in 1895. Although ownership changed, the factory continued to produce biscuits until the second half of the 20th century. The building is now demolished.

CWS Biscuit Factory, Moorland Rd, 1956. The allotment gardens in Tremorfa are still visible behind the railway line, now built over. The main section of the biscuit factory was built in 1895, converted into Leo’s supermarket in the 1960’s, demolished in 1986.
