I was amazed and thrilled on Sunday sitting in the garden of the Nine Giants pub. I had never noticed before, the three Victorian gas lamps in very good condition. The name of the iron foundry which made them is on them. Thomas Spittle of Newport. The manager of the pub isn’t aware if they are protected in some way.
I hope they are and am wondering if the History Society know of them. Lone survivors and wonderful. Made my day seeing them .
Thanks
Hi Valerie.
Thanks for your interesting message. Afraid this is somewhat outside our area. Not sure if the Llanishen Local History Society are meeting at present.
Hi there – my Mum was evacuated to Llanishen in around 1941. She stayed at the headmaster’s house next to Jones. I don’t have an address but wondered if the house is still standing?

Apologies but this is outside our area and I haven’t been able to find out the current status of Llanishen Local History Society.
