I’ve recently taken up searching for my family tree. I trying to chase down who my great grandfather was. Apparently he passed through mainly barracks in Wales during World War Two, he was a African America who’s name may have been William/bill kent. I was just wondering if I’m in the right place to start searching for him. Any information would be great or being pointed on the right direction. Thankyou so much for any help

I suspect there won’t be much information held at Maindy Barracks itself. I’m thinking that it may be worth contacting the Regimental Museum of The Royal Welsh at Brecon. Even if your great grandfather was not in that regiment they may have some ideas for you. I think their website is: https://royalwelsh.org.uk/

He was actually a American that passed through there. Would that still be a good place to search
